According to Wikipedia, the first known written entry about No Nut November occurred in 2011 on Urban Dictionary but also referenced reddit threads as the basis for the challenge. For those of you who aren’t in the know, Urban Dictionary is a fun dictionary meant for slang, internet meme culture definitions and whatnot. Users can submit their own entries and definitions and people can upvote them for the most popular. So the first known entry occurred in 2011, which described friends issuing each other a challenge based off of No Shave November, another internet challenge. So basically it started as a friendly dare between a couple of guys, which is rather relevant. There was another interesting tidbit I was able to dig up on the origin of No Nut November. This article from LadBible suggests that an old Seinfeld episode was the true origin story of No Nut November began with the episode called “The Contest”. The premise of the contest is that Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer all hold a contest to see who is the “Master of their Domain” after George swears off masturbating when he was caught masturbating by someone.
